What if my Webflow month renews during an open request?
See which hours an open Webflow request uses after renewal, and what to write so the unfinished item is explicit.
An open request does not keep unused hours from the period that is ending. Those hours expire and do not carry over. The next period is a new 10 hours on the $999 plan. Work left after renewal uses that allowance. If it would pass 10 hours, extra time is $75 per hour and starts only after you approve a written estimate. Write whether the open item should continue.
Hours left behind do not follow the request
When a billing period ends, unused hours expire. They do not carry over, and they do not stay attached to a request that is still open. The unfinished item can move forward only as work you still want. The leftover time does not move with it.
The plan is one price for every existing Webflow site: $999 per month, including 10 hours. The next period starts again at 10 hours. It does not start at 10 plus whatever you did not use.
Example: a logo row was started this period, and 3 hours are still unused when the period ends. Those 3 hours expire. They are not a balance the logo row can spend next month. If the row still needs an hour after renewal, that hour comes from the new period's 10.
Time already spent in the period that is ending stays in that period. It is not counted a second time. What changes at renewal is the work that is still left.
Work after renewal uses the new allowance
Anything still to do after the new period starts uses the new 10 hours. Rank it with the other requests for that period. A continued item is not free, and it does not sit outside the allowance because it was opened earlier.
If continuing it would pass 10 hours in the new period, additional work is $75 per hour. Before work exceeds the included hours, I share a written estimate and ask for your written approval. Additional work starts only after you approve it. Hours that expired with the previous period cannot cover that estimate.
You can also narrow the item so it fits the hours you want to spend. Narrowing is a written change to the request. It is not a way to pull unused time forward.
Urgent requests are reviewed and picked up within 24 hours. Other requests are reviewed and picked up within 48 hours. Those windows are pickup times. They are not a promise that the open item will be finished before renewal, and they are not a finish time after it.
Say whether the open item should continue
The end-of-period note lists what shipped, what you held, and what is still open. That note is a record. It does not, by itself, mark the leftover item as work for the new hours. The record guide is how to write that list. This page is the decision the list cannot make for you.
In the same thread, add one line that is clearly a request:
- Continue the logo row in the new period, before any new page.
- Hold the logo row. Do not spend new hours on it.
- Drop the logo row. It is no longer wanted.
Example: 'Closing this period. Published: the first paragraph on /services. Still open: the logo row. Continue that row in the new period. Do not start the blog template until the row is done.'
A hold does not save the old hours. They still expire. A hold only means the new period's hours are not spent on that item until you say to continue.
You cannot pause the month to keep the request funded
Memberships cannot be paused. A pause is not a way to freeze the open request, or the unused hours, until a campaign or a colleague returns. If you cancel before the next renewal, future billing stops. Service continues through the paid period you already have, and remaining included hours stay available until that period ends. There is then no next set of 10 hours, because the renewal did not happen.
If you want the work later, you can ask to rejoin, subject to availability. Rejoining starts a new paid period. It does not restore hours from the period that ended, and it does not reopen a request by itself. Send the request again in writing.
Your Webflow subscription and hosting stay in your own account. A new website or a full redesign is a separate project. It is not a request that waits across the renewal inside the monthly hours.
Put the decision in the thread before the period changes
Communication is asynchronous and written only. There are no calls or meetings to sort an open item at renewal. The useful note names the item, says continue, hold, or drop, and says where it sits against the other work you want in the new period.
If the continued work might pass 10 hours, wait for the written estimate before you treat the extra time as approved. The extra hours guide is that yes or no. Unused hours from the period that just ended are not part of that yes.
The Webflow retainer is the monthly plan this renewal belongs to. The retainer guide explains the work the included hours cover. Use this page when a request is still open as the paid period ends.
Questions & answers
Does time I already used get counted again after renewal?
No. Time already spent in the period that is ending stays in that period. The new period covers work that is still left, not a second pass over work that is already done.
Can a quiet week's leftover hours finish the item next month?
No. Unused hours expire at the end of the billing period and do not carry over. They are not a credit, a discount, or extra time on the next invoice.
What should I send if I have not said continue or hold?
Reply in the same thread with continue, hold, or drop. A note that only lists the item as still open is a record. Mark the line as work you still want if the new period should spend hours on it.
If I cancel instead of renewing, can the open request finish?
Cancel before the next renewal to stop future billing. Service continues through the paid period, and remaining included hours stay available until that period ends. After that, there is no new allowance, because the renewal did not happen.
