What is a Webflow retainer, and when do you need one?
Understand what ongoing Webflow support covers, how to plan monthly work, and when a separate project makes more sense.
A Webflow retainer provides recurring support for an existing Webflow site. It covers agreed updates, fixes, maintenance, and development within a defined monthly allowance. Webflower's plan includes 10 hours for $999 per month, with additional work at $75 per hour and all communication in writing.
What work belongs in a retainer?
A retainer fits a website that is already live and continues to change. Your team might need to update a service page, fix a layout problem, add CMS content, or build a section using the existing design. These requests benefit from a specialist who becomes familiar with the site's structure and previous decisions.
- Development and improvements to existing pages.
- Bug investigation, responsive fixes, and technical troubleshooting.
- CMS content updates and changes to existing collections.
- Scoped new pages, form checks, and maintenance of existing integrations.
How Webflower's membership works
Webflower's current plan is $999 per month, including 10 hours of Webflow work. Additional work is billed at $75 per hour. The same plan applies to every existing Webflow site; choosing it does not require a custom quote. Your own Webflow subscription and hosting remain separate. Check the membership section for current pricing before subscribing.
All communication is written and asynchronous. Requests go into a shared board, with priorities and updates recorded in writing. Urgent requests are reviewed and picked up within 24 hours; other requests within 48 hours. These are assessment times, not promises that every task will be finished in that window.
Plan outcomes before filling the task board
Describe the outcome you need, the relevant page, and what a successful change looks like. A request such as 'replace the outdated pricing copy with this approved text and check the mobile layout' is easier to scope than 'improve the pricing page.' Include final assets where possible and identify any launch dependency.
Treat the monthly allowance as a shared capacity limit. Ten hours does not translate into a guaranteed number of pages because each request has different complexity. For larger work, agree on stages and an estimate after the scope has been reviewed. Keep room for unexpected fixes instead of assigning every hour before the month starts.
When a separate project makes more sense
A complete new website or major redesign needs its own brief, scope, and quote. A one-off project may suit an isolated task, while a retainer suits recurring work. Unused hours expire at the end of each monthly billing period and do not carry over. Cancel before your next renewal to stop future billing. Service continues through your current paid billing period within the remaining included hours. Memberships cannot be paused; you can request to rejoin later, subject to availability.
