How do I redirect visitors after a Webflow form submit?

Send visitors to a static page or a typed URL after they submit a Webflow form, then test it on the published site.

THE SHORT ANSWER

Select the form and open its Settings panel. Choose a static page, or type a URL, to send visitors there after they submit. Also write a success message and an error message. Publish, submit a test on the live site, and confirm the browser lands on that page. Webflow does not process the form if you exported the site and host it elsewhere.

Pick the page people should land on

A form redirect sends the visitor to another page after they submit. The usual destination is a short thank you page you create as a static page, with its own address, such as /thanks. Say that the message was received, and say what happens next in plain language, such as a reply by email. Add a link back to the homepage so the visitor is not left on a dead end.

That page is a normal Webflow page. Give it a title and a meta description that still make sense if someone shares the URL. Whether it should appear in search is a separate indexing choice. The form setting does not decide that.

Set the redirect in the form settings

Select the form on the canvas or in the Navigator. Open the Settings panel. Choose a static page on the site, or type a URL.

Name the form something you will recognize. New forms start with the name Email Form. A name such as Contact page makes the test easy to find later under Site settings, Forms.

If you exported the site and host it somewhere else, Webflow does not process the submissions. Use a third-party tool or an embedded form there. A custom action also sends the submission to an external service and does not store it in Webflow. Whatever Send to option you use, test one real submit on the published site and see where the browser lands.

Example: the contact form on /contact should open a static page you named Thanks. In the form settings, choose that page. Publish, submit once, and confirm the address bar shows /thanks.

Leave a success message and an error message

The same Settings panel has three states. Normal is the form before anyone submits. Success is the message after a successful submit. The default text thanks the visitor and says the submission was received. Error is the message when the submit fails. Put a real email address in the error text so someone can reach you if the form does not go through.

The forms article lists the redirect and those messages as separate settings. It does not say that choosing a page deletes the success text. Write both. If a visitor remains on the form, that text is what they read.

You can edit the states by selecting the Form block and opening the Settings panel. Change the success line so it matches the thank you page. Keep that message even when a redirect is set. It is what a visitor reads if they remain on the form.

Publish and read the address bar

Form handling runs on the published site. Publish to the staging domain or the custom domain, open the live form, and submit one test with your own email and a subject you can spot, such as Redirect test.

You should land on the static page you chose, or on the URL you typed. Then open Site settings, Forms, and find that test under the form name. If Redirect test is listed and the address bar shows /thanks, the path is working.

If the submission is missing, the form never finished, and the redirect is not the first thing to fix. If the submission is listed but the browser stayed on the form, open the settings again, confirm a page or a URL is saved, publish, and send one more test.

Use a 301 when the URL itself has moved

This setting runs after a person submits that form. It does not move an old address to a new one, and it does not change the URL of the contact page. The thank you page keeps its own address. If you rename a page that is already public, add a 301 for the old path. The form redirect will not cover that.

Use the thank you page for a human confirmation. Use 301 rules when a URL itself has moved.

Questions & answers

What if the site is exported and hosted elsewhere?

Webflow does not process form submissions on an exported site. The forms article says to collect them with a third-party tool or an embedded third-party form.

Should I delete the success message if I use a redirect?

No. Keep the success message and the error message. The help article does not say the redirect removes them. A visitor who stays on the form still needs that text.

The test stayed on the form. What should I check?

Open the form settings and confirm a static page or a URL is set. Publish again and submit once more. Also check Site settings, Forms. If the test is missing there, the submit itself did not finish.

Is a form redirect the same as a 301?

No. A form redirect runs after someone submits that form. It does not send an old URL to a new URL. Renamed pages still need their own 301 rules.
