How do I set up 301 redirects in Webflow?

Permanently route old URLs to new paths after a rename or redesign, including folder wildcards and CSV imports.

THE SHORT ANSWER

Add 301 redirects in Site settings > Publishing > 301 redirects by entering the old path and the new path, then publish the site. A paid Site plan or paid Workspace plan is required. For a renamed Collection folder, use a capture group such as /old-collection-url/(.*) to /new-collection-url/%1. Export existing redirects before a CSV import, because imports overwrite all current rules.

When a 301 redirect is the right fix

A 301 redirect permanently sends visitors from an old path to a new one. Use it when you rename pages, reorganize folders, redesign with new URLs, or keep bookmarked and printed links working. Without a redirect, those old addresses can land on a 404 page even after search results update later.

Temporary moves use other redirect types. For lasting URL changes on a Webflow site, set 301 redirects, then publish so they take effect.

Add a single redirect path

Paid Site or Workspace plans are required. Then:

  • Go to Site settings > Publishing > 301 redirects.
  • Enter the old path, for example /old-url.
  • Enter the redirect to path, for example /entirely/new-url/structure.
  • Click Add redirect path and publish the site.
  • Test the old URL in a new browser tab.

If the old static page still exists at that slug, delete it, save it as a draft, or change its slug first. For Collection item pages, archive, delete, unpublish, draft, or change the slug before the redirect can apply.

Redirect a folder with a capture group

When a Collection URL or folder moves, one wildcard rule can cover every item. Set the old path to /old-collection-url/(.*) and the redirect to path to /new-collection-url/%1. Publish, then spot-check a few known item URLs.

Add more specific redirects before broad wildcards. Webflow runs older rules first, so a wide /(.*) rule added early can catch traffic before a later specific path runs.

Import and export carefully

You can export all redirects to CSV as a backup, and import a two-column CSV of old and new paths. Imports overwrite every existing redirect. Export first, add the new rows to that file, then import. Publish again after import.

Keep this on your rename checklist next to content and form checks. If URL moves keep stacking with other site work, a written membership request can keep one person owning the redirect list and the publish step.

Questions & answers

Do I need a paid plan for 301 redirects?

Yes. Webflow requires a paid Site plan, or a site in a Workspace with a paid Workspace plan, before you can add 301 redirects.

Will changing a page slug create a redirect for me?

If you change a page slug in Page settings and check Permanently redirect the old URL to this new one, Webflow creates a 301 you can review in Site settings > Publishing > 301 redirects.

What happens if I import a CSV of redirects?

A new import replaces every existing redirect on the site. Export your current list first, merge the new rows into that file, then import.

How do I redirect a whole Collection URL folder?

Use one wildcard rule: old path /old-collection-url/(.*) and redirect to /new-collection-url/%1, then publish.
