How do I set SEO titles and meta descriptions in Webflow?
Write unique page titles and descriptions, use dynamic CMS patterns where needed, and publish so search can refresh.
Open Pages panel > Page settings > SEO settings on each page. Set a title tag (under about 60 characters) and a meta description that matches the page. There is no site-wide SEO title setting. On Collection templates, add Collection fields for dynamic titles and descriptions. Publish the site after changes; search results can take days or longer to update.
Set SEO settings on every important page
Search titles and descriptions are page-level in Webflow. Open the Pages panel, open Page settings, then SEO settings. Add a title tag that names the page clearly, ideally under about 60 characters. Write a meta description that states what the reader will get. Home, pricing, and service pages should not share the same wording.
Users above Reviewer can edit metadata on paid Site or Workspace plans. After you save, publish the site so the live HTML updates.
Use dynamic fields on Collection templates
For blogs and other Collections, edit the Collection page template SEO settings and click Add field to pull in item data such as the post title. That pattern applies across items, so you are not rewriting SEO fields by hand for every entry.
Static pages still need their own titles and descriptions. Treat CMS patterns and static page settings as two separate checklists when you launch a section.
Publish, then wait for search to catch up
If results look outdated, confirm you published after the edit. Indexing can take days, weeks, or even months. Requesting a recrawl can help but is not a guaranteed speed-up. Google may also choose a body snippet over your meta description when that text better matches the query.
For example: Page: /pricing. Title under 60 characters that names the plan page. Description that states who the page is for and what it covers. After publish, spot-check the live source, then move on rather than refreshing search results every hour.
Keep SEO edits in your content workflow
When someone rewrites a service page, include title and description in the same brief as the body copy. When you add a CMS item, confirm the template SEO pattern still makes sense for long titles. Pair this with monthly page checks so critical journeys stay accurate in search snippets as well as on the page itself.
Questions & answers
Can I set one SEO title for the whole site?
No. Webflow applies SEO titles and meta descriptions per page. Write unique settings for each important page.
Do Collection posts need separate SEO fields?
On the Collection page template, you can define a pattern and insert Collection fields so each item gets its own title and description automatically.
Why do search results still show the old title?
Publish first. Even then, search engines can take days, weeks, or months to refresh. Google may also show a body snippet instead of your meta description when it matches the query better.
Should I stuff keywords into the title and description?
No. Write clear, relevant copy for the page. Deceptive keyword stuffing can be ignored or hurt visibility.
