How do I set form notification emails in Webflow?
Choose who receives each Webflow form email, set the subject and reply address, then publish and send a test.
Select the form, open Settings, and under Send to open Email notifications. Add recipients, a sender name, a reply address, a subject, and a body, then click Apply. New forms email your account by default. A Starter Site plan can notify five Workspace members. A paid Site plan can notify more people, including addresses outside the Workspace. Publish and submit a test on the live site.
Open email notifications for this form
A new form sends its submissions to Webflow and sends a notification email to the address on your Webflow account. Each form can use its own recipients and its own message.
Select the form on the canvas or in the Navigator. Open the Settings panel. In the Send to section, click Email notifications. If that destination is missing, click the add icon and choose Email notifications.
Example: the contact page should notify Maya, and a careers form should notify Jordan. Name the contact form Contact and the careers form Careers before you write the emails. Webflow names every new form Email Form. If several forms keep that name, their submissions share one table in Site settings > Forms, and a subject that prints the form name will not tell the two forms apart.
Set the recipient, subject, and reply address
The notification window is where you decide who is emailed and what the message contains.
- To is the list of addresses. Webflow's form submissions article describes it as a comma-separated list. Use a name-based address such as maya@northstudio.com.
- Sender name is the label recipients see, such as North Studio.
- Reply to is where a reply goes. You can type an address or insert a form field, such as the visitor's email field. Only ASCII characters are allowed in this field.
- Subject can include the variables siteName and formName, written as {{siteName}} and {{formName}}, so each form is obvious in the inbox.
- Body can include {{siteName}}, {{formName}}, {{formData}}, and {{formDashboardUrl}}. formData lists the submitted fields. formDashboardUrl opens Site settings > Forms for that site.
On the free Starter Site plan, a form notification can have five recipients, and every recipient must be a Workspace member. Upgrade the Site plan when you need more recipients, or when you need to notify someone who is not in the Workspace.
Click Apply. If you already saved site defaults and this form should use them again, click Reset to defaults in the Email notifications window.
Set defaults when several forms should match
Open Site settings > Forms and find Default form email notifications. A form you add later inherits these values, so the sender name and subject stay consistent.
You can fill in:
- Sender name, the name on the notification
- Send form submissions to, the addresses, separated by commas
- Subject line, which can use {{siteName}} and {{formName}}
- Reply to address, which can use a form field such as {{Name}}
- Email template, which can use {{siteName}}, {{formName}}, {{formData}}, and {{formDashboardUrl}}
Click Save. To stop the site-wide emails, remove every address from Send form submissions to and save again. One form can still set its own To list after that. If that field is empty and you did not clear it, someone may have used the unsubscribe link. Put the address back and save.
Publish, then look for the test in two places
Apply stores the settings. The published site is what sends the live email. Publish, open the live contact page, and submit a note you can spot, such as "notification check October 12".
Then check two places. Site settings > Forms should list that note under Contact. Maya's inbox, and her spam folder, should show the message. Webflow's form submissions article says the usual branded sender is no-reply-forms@webflow.com. On Starter, Core, and Freelancer Workspaces, the notification includes Webflow Forms in the sender name. A Growth Workspace can use the unbranded address no-reply@webforms.io. The delivery article also lists no-reply@webflow.com. Add no-reply@webflow.com, no-reply@webforms.io, and no-reply-forms@webflow.com to the safe sender list when the email provider allows it.
Submissions work on the webflow.io staging host without a Site plan. A custom domain needs an active Site plan before submissions are collected. A Starter Site plan stores 50 submissions in total, and that count does not reset. After 50, new submissions stop until you upgrade. The count is in Site settings > General > Overview.
When the email still does not arrive
If the test is missing from Site settings > Forms, the form never submitted, so there is no notification to send. Fix that submit path first. The setting that blocks notification mail on purpose is a custom action. A custom action sends the visitor's data to another service, and Webflow does not email you. Custom action also cannot be combined with Webflow or Email notifications. Remove the custom action, add Webflow and Email notifications under Send to, Apply, and publish again.
If the row is in Forms and the inbox is still empty, the form worked and the mail did not. Confirm the To field has no typo, try a different address such as a personal Gmail account, and publish again. Check spam. If the provider has been rejecting Webflow's messages, that address can land on Webflow's blocklist, and Webflow will not try again until the block is removed. Contact Webflow support and name the recipient you added.
Questions & answers
Can I send the notification to info@ or admin@?
Webflow recommends a name-based address instead. Role addresses such as info@, admin@, and support@ are more likely to be filtered by the email provider.
What happens if I leave the To field empty?
Webflow does not send a notification email for that form. Submissions can still be stored under Site settings, Forms, when Webflow is one of the destinations.
Why did the saved recipient disappear?
Someone may have clicked the unsubscribe link in an earlier notification. Add the address again under Send form submissions to, or in that form's Email notifications, then Apply and publish.
Do notification changes apply before I publish?
Click Apply to store them, then publish and submit a test on the published page. A canvas preview is not the delivery check.
