How do I paginate a Collection list in Webflow?
Split a dynamic Collection list into pages of 1 to 100 items, and know site search only indexes the first page.
Select a dynamic Collection list, open Collection list settings, and turn Paginate items on. Set Items from 1 to 100. Webflow adds Previous and Next inside the list wrapper. Next appears when the list has more items than that page size, and Previous appears on later pages. Show page count adds the current page and the total. Webflow site search indexes only the first page.
Turn pagination on for a dynamic list
A Collection list shows at most 100 items at a time. Pagination is how you show a larger Collection, and how you show fewer items on each view so the page has less to load. Webflow documents both uses.
The control exists on dynamic Collection lists. A curated list, where you hand-pick items, does not offer pagination, filters, sort order, or a display limit. If Paginate items is missing, check the list type and set it to dynamic, then connect the Collection.
Select the list on the canvas. Open Element settings, then Collection list settings. Turn Paginate items on. You can connect those pagination settings to component properties when the same list component should use a different page size in different places. A single setting on the list is enough for a normal blog index.
Set how many items appear on each page
The Items field accepts 1 to 100. A blog with 140 posts can show 12 per page. Visitors then move through the rest with the new Pagination element Webflow adds inside the Collection list wrapper.
That element contains two link blocks, Previous and Next. Next appears when the list has more items than the number you set. Previous appears on the later pages so people can move back. If you only have one published item, or Items is larger than the whole list, those buttons stay hidden. Lower the number or publish another item, then check again.
Use the Preview dropdown under Paginate items to look at a specific page of the list while you are still in the Designer. To show visitors which page they are on, open Pagination settings and check Show page count. That adds the current page and the total.
For example: 140 posts at 12 per page is a long archive, and page 1 should be the posts you want people (and site search) to see first. Sort and filters decide which items qualify and in what order. Pagination only splits that result. Set those rules before you judge the first page.
Style the controls and add a second set
You can style Previous and Next in the Style panel. To recolor the arrow icons, set a font color on the icon or on the button link block. You can also replace the icon with an image from the Assets panel. To keep the default size and position, set that image's width or height to 20px and add a 4px margin on the left or right.
On a long page of cards, people should not have to scroll to the bottom to continue. Duplicate the Pagination element and place the copy higher inside the same Collection list wrapper. Both copies stay tied to that list. You cannot drag the Pagination element outside the wrapper, so if a move fails, check that the destination is still inside it.
What site search does with later pages
Webflow site search indexes only the first pagination page. Content that exists only on page two, page three, and so on does not appear in site search results. If a post should be findable from your own search box, it needs to be reachable on that first page, or from its own Collection page, or from another list that is not pushed past page one.
This is separate from Google. The pagination help article does not say how search engines treat the later pages. Give each post its own Collection page with a real title and slug, and treat the paginated index as a way to browse. After you publish, walk from page one to the last page and confirm the last page still shows the posts you expect.
Numbered pages when Previous and Next are not enough
Webflow's pagination element is previous and next, plus an optional page count. Numbered pages are a different setup, built with a slider and several Collection lists. It does not use the Paginate items switch.
Add a slider. Select the slider arrows and set Display to None. Select the slider, set the background color to transparent, and under Slider settings, Slide Nav, leave Number labels checked. Inside the first slide, add a Collection list, turn Limit items on, and set Show to 3. Copy that list into the second slide and set Skip to 3. The first slide shows items 1 through 3. The second shows items 4 through 6. Duplicate slides and raise Skip (6, then 9, and so on) for each extra page.
That pattern is fixed at design time. If the Collection grows, you add slides. Standard pagination grows by itself and stops at 100 items per page. Use the slider method when you specifically want numbered slides. Use Paginate items when the archive should keep working as you publish more posts.
If a large archive is part of the monthly upkeep, I can take that list work from a written brief. The membership is one plan for every existing Webflow site: $999 per month, including 10 hours of Webflow work. Unused hours expire at the end of each monthly billing period and do not carry over.
Questions & answers
Why are Previous and Next missing?
The buttons stay hidden when the Collection has one item, or when Items is larger than the number of items in the list. Add a second item or lower the page size.
Can I show more than 100 items on one page?
No. A Collection list shows at most 100 items at a time. Pagination is how you spread a larger Collection across pages.
Does Webflow site search include page two of the list?
No. Webflow site search indexes only the first pagination page. Later pages of that list are left out of the site search index.
Can I put the page controls above the list?
Yes. Duplicate the Pagination element and move the copy inside the Collection list wrapper. You cannot drag it outside that wrapper.
